Shortcuts

Shortcuts are how you skip the menu. Goldstrap can place a few on the desktop and in the Start menu, each with the icon you chose for it.

What can be created

Settings → Shortcuts

ShortcutStarts
Goldstrap (desktop)The launch menu, from the desktop.
Goldstrap (Start menu)The launch menu, from the Start menu.
Launch RobloxGoes straight into a Roblox launch, skipping the menu.
Launch Roblox StudioSame, for Studio. Only offered once a Studio build is known.
SettingsOpens the settings window directly.

Each row is a toggle. A shortcut created by Goldstrap is removed when you turn its toggle off, and a shortcut that already exists is never overwritten.

Icons

The shortcuts take their icon from the icon you selected in Appearance: the Goldstrap set for Goldstrap, the Roblox set for the Roblox and Studio shortcuts.

Extract icons writes the whole built-in set as separate .ico files into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Goldstrap\Icons. Point any other shortcut — Explorer, a dock, a launcher — at those files if you want the same look everywhere.

What the shortcuts actually run

Every shortcut runs the same executable with one switch. If you are writing your own shortcut, these are the ones worth knowing:

SwitchResult
-playerLaunch Roblox directly.
-studioLaunch Roblox Studio directly.
-settingsOpen the settings window.
-quietSuppress dialogs; combine with the switches above for unattended use.

Leaving the switches off opens the launch menu, which is what the desktop shortcut does.

Note

Windows may still show a shortcut from an older install. If a shortcut opens the wrong copy of Goldstrap, delete it and toggle the shortcut off and on again so it is recreated with the current path.
