The questions that come up before anyone reads the rest of the manual.
Is Goldstrap safe?
It is open source, and the source is the same code the release is built from. It does not install a service, does not run at startup unless you ask, and writes only inside its own folder, the shortcuts you enable, and the Roblox settings you edit through it.
The part worth understanding is cookie access, which is off by default.
Does it modify Roblox or the game?
It runs its own copy of the official client, downloaded from Roblox's own deployment servers and verified against Roblox's hashes. Local files can be replaced with mods, and local client settings can be changed — both on your machine only. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing on the server side changes.
Will uncapping the frame rate damage my PC?
No. It removes a software limit; the GPU then works as hard as the scene demands, which means more heat and power. On a laptop, watch the temperatures. If the game feels worse, turn the toggle off — that is the whole risk.
Does it need administrator rights?
No. Goldstrap runs as your user. The only elevation you will see is Roblox itself, and only if Windows compatibility flags for the client ask for it.
Can I keep my Bloxstrap settings?
Yes — the installer imports Settings.json, mods and custom themes when it finds a Bloxstrap folder. See Importing.
Does it work with Roblox Studio?
Yes. Studio uses the same launcher, with its own channel and its own installed build. The Studio entry only appears once Goldstrap has seen a Studio installation.
Where are my settings?
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Goldstrap. The overview lists what each file holds.
Can I remove the profile row?
Yes: Settings → Appearance → User profile. It is cosmetic and off-switchable without losing the data. See Profile.
Why did my streak reset?
A day was skipped, or the date on the machine changed. The streak is counted from the local date when the launch menu opens. See the streak rules.
How do I uninstall it?
Settings → Apps → Goldstrap → Uninstall, or Goldstrap.exe -uninstall. You choose whether your data goes with it. See Uninstalling.
How do updates work?
Goldstrap checks for a newer release at launch and, if you accept it, replaces itself and restarts. Your settings are untouched. Releases are on GitHub, and the version is on the About page.
Is this official?
No. Goldstrap is not affiliated with Roblox Corporation, Bloxstrap or Fishstrap. It is built on their work, and the licences are listed in the app.
